Designed by De Greer Yindimincarlie, the 'Yarning Circle' mat is designed using Indigenous symbols. The symbols were and are used as a form of communication, a way to tell a story, instruction or direction.

The 'Yarning Circle' design represents a variety of different indigenous symbols including men, campsite, coolamon, child, boomerang, warrior, emu tracks, kangaroo tracks and digging sticks. The lesson here is to work out which symbol relates to which description.
